We at Visual Vibes are firm believers that the artistry of music and creativity of lighting design have always been a perfect match. It’s no surprise that major performances and concerts include stunning visual elements that sync to the rhythm to enhance the atmosphere and create a unique experience for everyone involved – from the performer to the audience.

When developing the ViVi Music LED Controller, no existing technology could meet our requirements for this level of accurate music reactive response. Programs that ran on a full-size computer could analyze music quickly, but still required you to manually program the sequences you wanted the lights to display.

So we started from scratch and developed VibeSync. But before we get into the technical details, let’s talk about some basics first.

What is Sound Reactive Lighting?

Traditional sound activated LED lighting units typically have a microphone that measures sound volume.   When the volume passes a certain threshold, an action is taken that is fairly limited because all patterns are completely pre-programmed.

Reactions based on just sound threshold is what creates the standard blinking lights or 2-3 animation changes most people see today. While they are simple solutions, they tend to become boring and erratic.

Microphone simply registers sound triggers rather than waves.

MICROPHONE SIMPLY REGISTERS SOUND TRIGGERS RATHER THAN WAVES.

Other more advanced sequences can be programmed through DMX, but the cost of time and money can be overwhelming. Not only are individual lighting units required, but each requires it’s own unique address code and to be cabled in a way that it can communicate effectively. All of this includes archaic forms of technology including programming with sliders, dip switches, and termination plugs.

The look on his face says it all.

THE LOOK ON HIS FACE SAYS IT ALL.

Bringing Music To Light

VibeSync is a music reactive technology, combining analog and digital processes that were designed specifically to accurately analyze music rather than just sound triggers to produce amazing lighting effects — all without the current complexities facing lighting design.

The ViVi Music LED Controller listens to your music through the line-in/aux/mic connection and instantly processes the sound waves. Once filtered and analyzed, VibeSync™ then divides data and actions between three common EQ frequencies: bass, mids, and highs.

This means thumping bass can be separated from the high crashes and midrange vocals to enhance your ambiance – allowing for incredibly responsive light shows that can visualize your music performances based on the nuances of the sound itself.

ViVi controls addressable LED light strips, which means each individual LED along the strip can perform its own set of actions. The benefit to this is that these act as multiple lighting units which VibeSync coordinates to create a stunning visual light show that reacts to music fluidly without delay.

Ease-of-use was always the top priority, so VibeSync is completely automated and it only requires effort if you want more control. Even better – all of that control is handled through our mobile app, which we’ll share more about in the future.

Additionally, ViVi’s firmware updates allow for new animations and color profiles so you’ll always have the latest and greatest show without having to buy new controllers or light fixtures all the time. It’s simply the most versatile music LED controller available.
